In November, the Surgeon General has issued the nation's first report on Addiction in America. Almost everyone in New Jersey knows of someone who is suffering from Addiction, or who is trying to help someone who is afflicted. On December 18, at 1:30 in the St. Joseph Room of Good Shepherd Church, Fr. Ed Reading will present an Adult Education Session on the current science of Addiction--what it is, and what it is not...how it develops and why...what can be done regarding prevention...and what treatments work best. This one hour session will be followed by a Q and A session. The information is appropriate to aduls, Junior & Senior High School and College students.
Fr. Reading is known to the Good Shepherd community, but he is known in "Medical Community" as Dr. Reading. He is a national expert on the topic, having lectured to members of the American Society on Addiction Medicine, the NJ Medical School, the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Stockton University, and many other groups. Last year he was chosen "Addiction Professional of the Year" by the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors.
