Maybe you come to mass every weekend but you are looking for more. Maybe you have some free time and you want to use it to help others. Maybe you always wanted to learn more about the faith. Here are some ways you may find to be beneficial:
Ministries
Have you ever thought about being a Lector or Eucharistic Minister at mass? By taking part in one of these significant roles, you will become more involved in the celebration of the mass, gain a deeper understanding of these roles within the context of the mass, and provide a witness to others who may be considering the same thing. Contact the Parish Office or speak to one of our Liturgical Ministers for more information on how you can get involved.
Music Ministry
Our community is blessed to have a committed and talented Music Ministry program. Our choir typically sings at one mass per weekend. The bell choir also takes part in our celebrations, especially for special occasions. If your talents lie within the musical field, take some time to discover our Music Ministry program... you can make a difference in our weekly celebration of the mass!
Social Gatherings
The people are the true strength of Good Shepherd Parish. Since being Catholic is based on us having a personal relationship with God, it is essential that we help to foster personal relationships with each other. We do this formally through our Book Club, Bible Study, and Hospitality groups. The Book Club and the Bible Study groups are great opportunities for you to not only break open the Word of God and other literary works, but also do so with others so you can gain different perspectives on what you read. Our Hospitality group organizes light refreshments after certain weekend masses. Hospitality Sundays create a relaxed, informal atmosphere for our community to interact with each other before heading off after mass. There are several other Parish Activites and Social Outreach programs for you get invovled with.
Faith Formation
Keep your eyes out for special events that we hold throughout the year, especially during the seasons of Advent and Lent. From time to time, we host special speakers on relevant topics that may be of interest to you. In addition to around our own parish, you may want to check out St. Paul Inside the Walls, the Diocesan Center for Evangelization. They offer several programs and opportunities every week in areas such as Scripture, young adults, relationships, catechesis, and much more! A handful of programs are offered through St. Paul's at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Sparta.
